Christmas Eve symbolizes the arrival of the joyful occasion of Christmas which is celebrated with much delight and joy all over the world. Christmas Eve brings with it the cheerful mood and joyful spirit for celebrating Christmas with fun and festivity. Christmas Eve is celebrated previous to the Christmas Day on the 24th of December. The liturgical commencement of the Christmas season is marked by the Christmas Eve. Christmas season ends with the Baptism of the Lord, arranged on the first Sunday after the conclusion of Epiphany.

Few churches commence their Midnight Mass at 7 o’clock in the evening, the practice being started only one or two years back. Early in the evening many Catholic churches also organize candle lighting services by all congregants. In Christmas Eve Church, performances of the Nativity scenes by the indigenous people and children are also arranged.
