Black Christmas

Black Christmas (2006) is a movie which was remade in the year 1974 from its original version. The director Glen Morgan remade the movie with the same story but with more twists and turns which were not there in the original movie. Black Christmas is basically a black and horror movie.

The story mainly evolves around two siblings Billy and Agnes. They are the two black characters. Billy (Robert Mann) is insane as he had a turbulent childhood and was abused by his mother (Karin Konoval). His mother cheated on his father (Peter Wilds) and one day she eventually killed him and locked Billy in the attic. Billy killed both his mother and her lover (Howard Siegel). But before this she had an inbred daughter named Agnes (Dean Friss).

Billy is locked away in a mental institution, never to be released. After 20yrs, he managed to escape from the asylum. In the meantime, Billy's childhood house is now occupied by 8 sorority sisters (Katie Cassidy, Lacey Chabert, Crystal Lowe, Jessica Harmon, Leela Savasta, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jessica Harmon, and Michelle Trachtenberg) and their housemother (Andrea Martin). During a filthy storm at Christmas time, the sorority sisters find themselves being threatened by mysterious phone calls from a man claiming to be Billy himself. From the beginning there are many questions like who were Billy and Agnes? Were they both killers? Or was it an insane Billy acting alone but channeling his psychotic sister? And just what did Billy do to the baby Agnes, all those years ago?

The film is genuinely scary but the murder sequence is very well planned and creative which makes the movie a breath-taking black film.

Black Christmas is treated with a good narrative style which hides the lack of average performance and poor cinematography. Black Christmas is recommended if you in a mood for some black fun.
