The director John Whitesell tries to tell a simple story between two neighbors who at first were the rivals but through course of the story become friends. Steve Flinch (played by Mathew Broderick) is a local eye doctor and leader of the Christmas decorations of the town. He lives with his wife Kelly and a daughter Medison and a boy Cartet. He has a neighbor who is a car-seller, Buddy Hall (Danny Devito). Buddy Hall comes to live there with his family – his wife Tia and children Ashley and Emily. Tia and Kelly become friends. So do the children.

One night Ashley and Emily find out that in a site called MyEarth, which shows the satellite images of different places is not showing the Hall house. So, Buddy Hall decides to make his house visible to everybody. He uses the Christmas lights to glorify his house. Steve gets jealous with the fame of the fresher-in-the-town Buddy. Buddy also buys a sleigh which eventually diminishes the Christmas spirit of Steve. He tries to pull out Carter from the sleigh but the horses get scared and finally drag Steve all over the town and drop him in the frozen river. Steve is rescued but he bets that he will take down Buddy. But finally he ends up setting fire to his own house. He realizes his faults and befriends Buddy. In the end, both families and the whole town help them to be visible on the website.
