But when he grew up he was already three times larger than the other elves. One day He comes to know that he is not an Elf and he has human family of his own in New York. Young Buddy (played by Will Farrell) decided to go to New York in search of his real father. Eventually, Buddy's real father Walter Hobbs (played by James Caan), executive publisher of the children's books, is in the Santa's 'naughty' list. Walter is not believing Buddy's words and Buddy is trying harder to make him to believe him. In New Work he also he also gets his love interest Jovie (Zooey Deschanel).
Buddy is a eccentric character wearing colorful tights and singing carols. In the climax Buddy again meet Santa in the Christmas eve and help him to fix his sleigh. Buddy and Jovie get married and they have a happy family with a child.

Once, in the Christmas Eve, a little baby of a orphanage crawled into Santa's bag of toy when Santa Claus had come to distribute gifts among the children of the orphanage. Santa unknowingly brought the child back in his home in the North Pole. He did not who is the child and who are his parents. So, he decided that the little baby would be brought up by the elves who are working in the Santa's workshop.
After that he has been bringing up by the most faithful elf of Santa. Papa Elf told him that only three jobs are there for the elves – one is making shoes, another is baking cookies inside the trees and the last and best of the lot is working in Santa's workshop. The childless Papa Elf named him Buddy and raised him like his own child- as an Elf.
