The title song of this film “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep” which became hugely famous was first used in the movie “Holiday Inn”. This song won the best original song Academy Award. The White Christmas movie was the first movie which was shot in vistavision and the luxuriant Technicolor made certain a long life for the White Christmas film.

The story of the film revolves round two friends of US Army in the backdrop of World War II. One is Bob (Bing Crosby) who was a Broadway entertainer formerly and the other is Phil Davis (Danny Kaye), a promising entertainer. Once Phil saves Bob’s life and his arm get injured in the process.

Throughout the movie Phil uses his injured arm to make Bob do whatever he wants. This is the constant source of comic gag in the film. After World War II, Bob and Phil rock the stages, nightclubs and the Broadway with their acts. “Playing Around”, their musical becomes a smashing hit.

Then the story of the White Christmas motion picture takes a different turn and Bob and Phil rescues two sisters Betty and Judy from their landlord. Then the two couples went to Vermont to spend holidays and put up at Columbia Inn which is owned by Tom Waverly, their former Major General. But due to scarcity of snow and patrons the inn is on verge of bankruptcy. Bob and Phil decide to help the major and arrange for a show of their hit musical “Playing Around” including Betty and Judy.

The White Christmas picture ends on a musical note and the fall of pristine snow in the Pine Tree. Bob falls in love with Betty and Phil with Judy. White Christmas film ends with a positive and melodious note.
